Does the one pedal I use really have a hidden cost totalling all of those unused experiments in the drawer?Īm I stuck with a pedal I have to hoard, or give away, because shipping is as much as the second hand value? If I keep buying cheap delay pedals until I find the right one, I end up with a pedal I use and a drawer of unused 'experiments'. If I bought a Behringer VD400 and decided I didn't like the sound I could buy another cheap pedal, but I don't think I could sell a second hand VD400 to offset the new pedal cost. I could repeat this process with little or no loss, those pedals are going to retain their value or increase over time. If I bought a BOSS DM-3 then decided I don't like the sound I could sell it and buy a DM-2. I don't believe 'upgrade to better' in your example involves 'trading up'. I don't, the reason is centred around your 'upgrade' solution. I could always upgrade to better units later. Have you ever found these to be worthy in your setup? Or do they just sound like ? I’m willing to hear advice on why I should avoid these if they have issues. If I feel they’re not that great, then I only spent $20-50. I’m not expecting the greatest sound out of these, but I’ll likely order 2-3 every week just to quickly build up a large pallet of effects. I don’t think I’m going to build a pedal board, but I might connect a few just to spice up a few synths or individual drum hits that could use some sound manipulation. I mean $20 pedals that do Fuzz, reverb, overdrive, delay, etc seem to be handy for spicing up some of my synths/drum machines. So I was thinking: “Well, I could use some cheap effects.”. My Sweetwater dealer warned me some gear prices might go up due to microprocessor shortages, shipping problems, etc. I mainly play with samplers, grooveboxes, synths, drum machines etc. Any module with a rating better than Ø 4.34 is considered to be above average. So first things first, I don’t play guitars or bass. Modules have to be rated at least 30 times to appear in this list.
